Artist's Comments
This is my version of the rarely seen Yosemite resident, the Ring-Tailed Cat. Not really a cat. It's actually in the same family as the raccoon. Although I visit Yosemite regularly (I live just 20 minutes from the Southern entrance to the park), to paint or take park visitors out to paint for the Yosemite Conservancy, I'd never seen or even heard of these solitary characters. Since displaying my painting, though, I was surprised to learn of the number of my local friends who had witnessed the little animal.
