Artist's Comments
I'm working on a whole series of abstract Sierra animals, for a themed show. The first painting I did in the series was the fishing bear in Rare Sighting. Fortunately, it sold shortly after I got it back from the first show it was in, Yosemite Renaissance. But I can't have a series on Yosemite animals without a bear, so I had to come up with another concept that featured them. I'd been wanting to experiment with a painting of overlapping images and the mother and cub composition was the prefect vehicle for it.
