Artist's Comments

Setting up a still life is a lot of work and requires a significant amount of time. I've got to determine the location or background, collect or purchase all the elements, determine the arrangement in the composition and light everything properly (shadows are important). So, I try to get a lot of mileage out of every still life I set up and usually do more than one painting from each. In this case I painted both a figurative, or representational, version and this current one, an abstract version. The figurative version is Red Rose Teatime.
