Artist's Comments
As some of you know, my studio is located in the Sierra foothills of California, with easy access to Yosemite National Park. I spend a lot of time painting and hiking there. I kind'a think of the park as my backyard. While I've frequently painted the unbelievble vistas Yosemite has to offer and instructed there, this is my first representation of the wild life that call the park home. This piece was recently accepted into the Yosemite Renaissance show, one of the few, if not the only, art competitions that actually take place in Yosemite Valley. It's a tough competition, with an acceptance rate of only 8%, so I was flattered to be included. I plan to paint more Yosemite beasts in future.
